Shoshone Fall {Twin Falls, ID}

Brett and I went on a road trip to Portland, OR together for July 4th weekend. On the way back, we stopped by a small town in Idaho named Twin Falls. This was my first time visiting the town and the beautiful waterfall named Shoshone fall.

We got off I-84 and stopped at the viewpoint overlooking at the canyon. This is about 10 mins from Shoshone fall.

First we were at the gate, wondering if we should go down and see the fall since we were trying to hurry back home. It costs $3 to get the ticket down to the park by the fall. It only shows the view of the top of the fall. The rest is hidden behind trees.

I'm sure glad that we took some time to see the fall. It was so nice and beautiful. We actually might come back to visit some other time so we could spend more time visiting the town.

Some facts from the webpage:

"Shoshone Falls is among the most spectacular of natural beauties along the Snake River. At 212 feet, the falls are higher than Niagara Falls. They are best viewed during the spring and early summer, when water flows are high - depending on winter snow melt. Irrigation diversion of Snake River flows can significantly diminish water over the falls in the summer and fall, particularly during dry years. However, even without high water flows, the views at Shoshone Falls remain spectacular year-round. The City of Twin Falls owns and operates the Shoshone Falls/Dierkes Lake Complex. It offers a unique blend of recreational facilities, including playgrounds and hiking trails, landscaped picnic areas, a boat ramp and swimming area, and a scenic overlook. The complex provides restroom facilities and visitor information, and for a nominal per-car entry fee, visitors can enjoy picnicking and relaxing in the shaded, grassy areas, which provide perfect vantage points for viewing Shoshone Falls."

It was pretty hard to get a shot of the whole waterfall even with my camera at the min zoom and wide angel view. Two smaller falls by the big one with a shot of the rainbow
